Social Communication Coaching

Our Social Communication Coaching is designed to support neurodivergent children in building meaningful relationships while honouring their unique communication styles and strengths. Instead of enforcing rigid social norms, we focus on self-awareness, emotional regulation, and fostering genuine connections in ways that feel natural and comfortable for each child.

Using evidence-based, neurodiversity-affirming approaches, we help children develop

  • Self-advocacy skills – Encouraging children to express their needs, preferences, and boundaries confidently.
  • Emotional regulation – Teaching strategies to manage sensory and emotional responses in social situations.
  • Perspective-taking – Understanding different viewpoints while respecting their own unique way of thinking.
  • Flexible communication – Exploring various ways to connect, whether through speech, gestures, or other preferred forms of expression.
  • Confidence in social interactions – Creating a safe space where children can engage in peer play, group activities, and collaborative problem-solving.

We use the following strategies and curriculum to guide our approach: Social Thinking by Michelle Garcia Winner, Talk About by Alex Kelly, and UCLA PEERS by Dr Elizabeth Laugeson. These evidence-based programs help us support children in developing social communication, self-awareness, and meaningful connections with others.

We nurture each child's authentic self, ensuring they feel accepted, empowered, and confident in social environments.
